King uses that extended runtime to meticulously fill in the gaps that go overlooked in Kubrick's film, but he also goes overboard in the direction and creates an expository, languid mess. WebThe miniseries also includes Jack's redemption arc in the narrative which was completely excluded in the Kubrick version which makes Kubricks take on the story much more bleak. Ultimately, I definitely like Kubricks version much more, except for Nicholson vs. Weber as Jack Torrance, it makes me wish that Weber was cast in the Kubrick version. 17.
